Hackers known as the ‘Polish Underground’ have launched a series of attacks on government websites in protest against Poland’s decision to sign up to the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, or ACTA.
The move follows the weekend disruption of the sites of the country’s prime minister, president and parliament which were claimed by the online activist group Anonymous.
The Polish government has said it will debate its stance on the international copyright agreement on Wednesday.
The country committed itself to the multi-lateral agreement aimed at creating international standards for intellectual property protection, but failed to consult the public over the issue, sparking a storm of protest.
